First Day of Nursing School

What was your first day of nursing school like?  See if you can top this.  My first nursing class was in the University, up until this time I had gone to the local junior college.  I was living away from home for the first time in my own apartment (for the first time) and had not yet met anyone in the nursing program.  I get dressed and ready and headed out the door only to be met with rain and I mean pouring down rain.  I, of course, have no umbrella.  (It happened to be one of those things I just didn’t bring to college with me – Note: I carry an umbrella in the car with me always now!)  I only had to drive across the street to the school.  Ran to the nursing building (I thought).  I was already soaking but now inside in the dry.  I couldn’t find my class so I asked someone (who happened to be the wrong someone!!)  They informed me I was in the wrong building and need to walk over to the adjacent building (only way there – in the rain!)  So I ran to the next building.  After getting in the building, I again ask where my classroom is and GUESS WHAT?  It is in the building I just left!!  At this point I am drenched, late for class, frustrated, and crying - sooooo I go home.  (Not necessarily recommended if this ever happens to you!)  Thank goodness I had a really great roommate (dental hygienist).  After getting home and calming down, I dried off and told her all about my day.  Together we went back to the correct building (the rain had stopped) and found my instructor.  She was wonderful, we laughed at the situation, she gave me the assignment and I never missed her class again!

Rule of thumb:  If the chance is available – visit your classroom before the actual class day!
